About Me

I am a professional photographer who is located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  I have been a photographer for over 25 years and love what I do for a living.  I am extremely new to blogging, so please bear with me, as I try to figure this all out.

Please feel free to leave comments on my photography, as well as any suggestions on how to make this blog better.

Just like me, this blog is a work in progress.

Hi Jay. This isn’t so much of a comment as it is some help, so feel free to delete it or keep it in moderation.

The name of your blog is currently ‘jaydavisphotography’, and your tag line is ‘Just another WordPress.com site’, both of which are the automated default from when you registered your blog.

If you’d like to change them, this is how you do it (starting in your Dashboard / Admin page):

Settings > General > Set Title: Anything you put in this space will appear in your masthead once you click Save. You can change it as many times as you wish.

Right below Set Title you’ll find Tagline, you can change this as often as you wish as well, although some continuity is always good.

Feel free to add or change the clock settings while you’re in there. Anything you change can be changed again, so don’t worry about breaking anything.

There’s also an area where you can upload a Blog Picture / Icon. It’s the little icon that sits beside the URL of your blog. Right now yours is the standard WordPress ‘W’.

Whatever you upload can be changed. It might take a little while for the first one to show up.

Don’t be afraid to surf around your dashboard settings. Unless you click three times on Delete there’s nothing you can do to cause permanent damage.

If you like I can help with the widgets next.

  2. Gabriel,

thank you so much for all of your help. I changed my tag line, added my logo, and I uploaded a Blog Picture/Icon. I hope all of the changes will show up.

I also added a photograph to my post today. Still learning how to work the system, but I feel more comfortable each day.

    Thanks again!

Hi Jay, sorry I haven’t been around, my Internet connection has been wonky for more than a week. But, new modem, and everything is stable. If there’s anything you have a question about, feel free to send me an email anytime. You’ll find it if you click the “edit” function with this comment.

One thing you might want to try is adding some widgets into your sidebar. None of them will harm your blog, and you can always remove the ones you don’t like:

      Dashboard >> Appearance >> Widgets

They’re all drag and drop easy. Two good ones to start with are the Recent Comments and Links / Blogroll widgets.

  3. Thanks Gabriel, for the note and for the continued tips on my blog. I’ll go start adding the widgets and the two you suggested.

Hi Jay, your blog looks great. Unless you have something specific I think this should be the last tip… there’s something called the Global WordPress Tags. When anyone posts something under the Photography category, for example, it automatically shows up in the Global Tag for Photography.

It’s a great place to find other bloggers with similar interests, and blogs you can put into your blogroll / links widget.

I’m sure I’ll be around, enjoying your blog, but don’t hesitate to ask if there’s anything I can help with.

  5. Ever tried using a fish eye lens for the interiors of the jets?

    • No, I haven’t Frank. I’ve been too afraid that it would give me even more distortion than the 14mm did. Have you used one in the interior of a jet? If so, how did you like the results? Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
